Director Martin Scorsese, known for his movies about wise men and gangsters, is venturing into new territory with his first Western, "Killers of the Flower Moon." Based on the nonfiction book of the same name by journalist David Grann, the film explores the shocking murders of at least twenty Osage tribal members in 1920s Oklahoma, shedding light on the birth of the FBI.
Given Apple's involvement, the film is expected to have a simultaneous release in theaters and on Apple TV+. However, Apple has partnered with Paramount to give the film an exclusive theatrical release on October 6. It will now face Sony's R-rated Spider-Man spinoff "Kraven the Hunter" as competition.

With Scorsese at the helm, it brings together his frequent collaborators and muses, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, both Academy Award winners. The duo's partnership spans several successful projects, including their upcoming collaboration on "Killers of the Flower Moon." This film marks their 10th feature together and 11th overall, including the 2015 short "The Audition." Their long collaboration began with "Mean Streets" in 1973, followed by such memorable films as "Taxi Driver," "Raging Bull," "Goodfellas," and "The Irishman."
In "Killers of the Flower Moon," De Niro stars as William Hale, a rancher suspected of orchestrating contract killings along with wealthy members of the Osage tribe. This film serves as another milestone in the illustrious careers of Scorsese and De Niro, further cementing their impressive partnership.
Scorsese's collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio began most recently with "Gangs of New York" in 2002, but their joint ventures are just as notable.
